With your own transportation

Departing from Quito/Baeza/Archidona : As you arrive at Archidona you continue on the road in direction to the city of Tena for 1,3 km (0,8 miles), pass by the PS gas station. Right after you cross the bridge over the Misahualli river you take the stony road on the right. Follow the signs that lead to Hakuna Matata Lodge for 3,9 km (2,4 miles) (Chaupi Shungo direction). Please be aware that the road is rocky.

Departing from Riobamba/Ambato/Baños/Puyo/Tena: After you arrive at Tena depart on the road towards Archidona for 7 km (4,3 miles). Just before the bridge over Misahualli river turn left on to the rocky road. Follow the signs that lead to Hakuna Matata Lodge for 3,9 km (2,4 miles) (Chaupi Shungo direction). Please be aware that the road is rocky.

With public transport

There are several bus companies that depart Quito towards Tena on a daily basis. You should get off the bus at Archidona (before reaching Tena). Our prefered suggestions is a bus that departs in the morning, the ride is between 4-5 hours. Upon arrival in Archidona you can take a taxi to Hakuna Matata lodge, this should take 15 minutes and costs $5 USD.

From Riobamba/Ambato/Baños there are daily buses towards Tena. From Baños you should expect a 4 hour drive. It is also preferable to take a morning bus. Upon arrival in Tena you can take a taxi to Hakuna Matata lodge, this should take 30 minutes and costs $8 USD.
