This is a 4 day adventure specially designed for white water enthusiasts. If you love the outdoors and are active, this program is for you. Two of our 4 days will be spent paddling on the Jatunyacu river, one of the main tributaries to the mighty Amazon river, we will spend a night camping under the stars surrounded by lush green forest just aside a native community village. This trip is full of adrenaline, active adventure and lots of excitement amidst the wild Amazon jungle. Our rafting journeys can be adapted for all ages and any skill level, from beginner to expert.

Day 1: Arrival - Free time or optional activities (D)

It all depends on your arrival time, but we suggest you take advantage of one of our optional activities at the lodge (not included), some possibilities include: a walk into our 120 hectare private reserve, swimming in our spectacular springwater pool or dipping into the crystal clear Inchillaqui river. Guided activity options: Explore our reserve with a native guide who will point out the main medicinal plants of the Amazon, a horseback ride to explore the amazing tropical scenery or an artisan chocolate workshop (from the bean to the bar). Please let us know your preferences in advance so we can book your prefered additional activities.

In the evening you will be able to enjoy a 3 course gourmet dinner.

Day 2: The Adventure begins: White water rafting - Jungle camp (B/L/D)

After a delicious breakfast we will head out to the infamous Llanganates national park to start our white water adventure, we will reach the put out at the Jatunyacu river. This beautiful crystal clear river is born from the glaciers of Cotopaxi volcano. The Jatunyacu (great water in kichwa) will be our road and the center of our attention for the next few days full of excitement and fun as we run the fast rapids, discover calm river pools and pristine vegetation all around us. We will have time to enjoy adrenaline on the runs and calm relaxing swimming moments in the many natural pools that form in between each section of rapids. At midday we will take a break and enjoy a picnic lunch at the riverbanks, after this we will paddle down river to the Shandia community where we will spend the night. We will setup camp at a clearing, we will share a typical dinner with the community and will have a once in a lifetime cultural exchange that will leave everlasting memories and emotions with us.

Day 3: Indigenous community - rafting - return to Hakuna Matata Amazon Lodge (B/L/D)

After breakfast we will be shown around the community village and we will be invited to participate in a traditional chocolate making workshop. Upon our return to the river we will continue our white water rafting adventure all the way to the port town of Misahualli leaving a 40 km. river run behind us. Tired but happy and full of satisfaction we will return to our lodge for well deserved three course gourmet dinner.

Day 4: Free Time - Optional activities at the Lodge - Departure (B)

As our time at Hakuna Matata Amazon Lodge comes to its end, it is still possible to take a last dip in the pool or take part in an optional homestyle chocolate making workshop.
